Working onsite for a leading financial services firm, the VP Procurement will undertake activities for the provision of non-IT related goods and services. This includes real estate, HR, consultancy, legal, data categories – among others. Those responsibilities include stakeholder management with the objectives of:

  • Optimizing the number of vendors
  • Leveraging purchasing power
  • Performance measurement to monitor and improve compliance and operational efficiency
  • Bench marking performance against industry standards all within a robust governance model.

Unique to this role will be the requirement to prepare and present Board papers in your general duties. As such, executive level communication skills (written and spoken) are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage  vendor’s overall performance and monitor risk in internal and external environments 
  • Create scorecards, quality metrics, vendor-level quality plans and undertake risk assessments 
  • Within a defined framework negotiates appropriate contractual terms
  • Identifies potential risks, implements key controls, and is accountable for validating both the company’s and the client’s performance and risk objectives are met through contract adherence 
  • Proactively manages the satisfaction of the business with the vendor to constantly re-evaluate their needs 
  • Work with Stakeholders to agree the strategy and objectives for the delivery of certain goods and  services, writing scopes of service, as appropriate
  • To integrate with cross functional teams in the undertaking of sourcing events such as RFIs and RFPs in accordance with accepted industry practices and internal requirements
  • Ensure vendor compliance with the company’s vendor registration programme
  • Make recommendations to senior management regarding the selection and appointment of appropriately qualified and experienced service providers 
  • Prepare and manage contracts with selected service providers ensuring appropriate commercial and contractual protections including SLAs and KPIs
  • Assist in the development and implementation of a vendor management strategy, including policies & procedures and operational reporting, to drive efficiencies and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to the development of training programs and assist in training employees in relevant procurement and vendor management policies, procedures and best practice
  • Facilitate a co-ordinated communications approach to vendor management both internally to senior operational stakeholders and externally with vendors, ensuring compliance with contractual and legal obligations, company Procurement strategy and reporting requirements

Key Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject matter(s) and equivalent industry experience
  • Proven track record driving cost efficiencies and maximising quality of vendor/partner delivery
  • Membership and/or participation in a professional procurement organization preferred
  • Experience in a commercial, contractual or operational position managing outsourced providers against contractual obligations
  • Effective team player with strong interpersonal and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
