Position:              Senior Structural Engineer, Offshore Substation, Taiwan
Reports to:         OSS Manager
Location:             Taipei, Taiwan (full-time)

Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manage and supervise various aspects of Civil/Structure scope including drawing and structural calculation for civil, structures, and buildings
  • Prepare and review documents related to site preparation, soil investigation, piling design, foundation and upper structure design, loading for equipment foundation, steel structures, and buildings
  • Prepare technical requirements
  • Review tender proposals and provide comments
  • Review design drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, and various studies/reports in support of subcontractor proposals
  • Participate in negotiations with the Onshore Team Leader
  • Collaborate with other departments such as WTG and PMO to ensure alignment on schedule, etc
  • Evaluate tender proposals
  • Manage the contractor within your scope to ensure a high quality offshore substation design and execution which meets project targets
  • Review and guide Contractor on general offshore substation layout, structural and equipment design
  • Review contractor deliverables incl. concept design, detailed design and asbuilt documentation
  • Liaise with key internal stakeholders such as the Electrical Manager and T&I Manager
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as the Project Certifying Body and Lender’s Technical Advisor
  • Regular visits to contractors’ or subcontractors’ sites within Taiwan or internationally will be required

Preferred skills and Technical Requirements

  • Formal training or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or similar qualification
  • 5+ years experience with offshore substation development, planning, and construction
  • 5+ years experience with renewable energy substations, ideally offshore wind
  • Experience overseeing and managing work performed by engineering consultants and EPC contractors or having worked one
  • Strong understanding of what drives offshore platform design and execution and the structural scope in particular
  • PMP certification desirable
