Company Overview:
As a specialized provider of offshore wind project development and construction management services, our client develops both fixed bottom offshore wind and floating offshore wind power development projects.  It has successfully delivered over 10 offshore wind projects globally and has 100+ employees from over 20 countries.  There are currently about 10 employees in South Korea.
  
Responsibilities Overview:
The Commercial Manager for Offshore Wind Development will be responsible for:

  • Negotiation and implementation of commercial agreements and contracts including Power Purchase Agreement, local stakeholder commercial agreements (including fisheries), grid connection agreement, land rights and other stakeholder agreements
  • Carry out economic and contractual analysis related to such agreements
  • Manage application and approvals of all project land rights including ports, harbors, and onshore land
  • Provide commercial representation for the Projects where required – e.g. industry and developer groups
  • Support project partnering & M&A discussions and transactions

  
Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage contracting processes for development activities and commercial agreements
  • Lead and conclude commercial negotiations and agreements
  • Represent the projects in external commercial meetings with stakeholders, counterparties, consultants, and cross developer discussions
  • Recommend negotiating strategy and lead commercial negotiations for key agreements and consultations.
  • Prepare commercial proposals, documents and presentation materials required to progress the project and manage external stakeholders
  • Prepare decision material and commercial updates to senior management and Board of Directors
  • Assist with commercial aspects of partnership or collaboration agreements
  • Provide input to PMO on DEVEX and CAPEX inputs for the Development area including Consents, Leases, Environment

  
Background:
An ideal candidate for the position will have practical experience from developing similar large projects, preferably projects with both offshore and onshore parts, and insight into South Korean market dynamics.

  • Degree holder in finance, law or business administration
  • 5+ years solid commercial and negotiating experience
  • Experience working for or within energy or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable
  • Able to demonstrate analytical and financial skills to and understanding of project management
  • High level competence with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Capable of managing multiple commercial strategies and workstreams, drive negotiations with key stakeholders
  • Familiar with contracts and agreements
  • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills in English and Korean in order to deal with local counterparties as well as explain the situation to multinational leadership abroad
  • Experience and track record in building relationships and negotiating with key stakeholders
  • Good team player with a desire to work in a diverse and flexible international team
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
